Education Through Music-Los Angeles (ETM-LA) honored legendary Academy Award-Winning Composer/Lyricist Richard Sherman and Burbank Unified School District music teacher Steve Hollis with the “Shining Star” awards at their 9th Annual Benefit Gala. The “Shining Star” award is given annually for those whose contributions through music has changed lives.
Students from Education Through Music-LA and Burbank’s Roosevelt Elementary School also performed an arrangement of Sherman’s music from Mary Poppins, as well as a sing-a-long with Richard Sherman on the piano.

Honoree Richard Sherman's music has touched the lives of millions of people across the world including the many children who experience his work at that young impressionable age. Academy Award-winner Michael Giacchino serves on the advisory committee of ETM-LA and his music has also touched millions especially children through his acclaimed work for Pixar. And Tony Award-nominated actor/performer/singer Josh Gad has recently entered the lives of millions with Disney's Frozen whose character Olaf has become part of popular culture overnight.
